Long lost updates

How many times do I blog about something and say I'll keep you updated and then never do?
Don't answer that. It's a lot, I know.

I've dropped the ball (I can't help it, i'm getting old, the memory's not as sharp as it used to be). But here I go, picking the ball back up. Every life update you'd ever want to know:

Boot: Boot is gone. Long gone. I'm running again! slowly but surely. Chicago marathon in October is out of the picture, but the physical therapist encouraged me that the half marathon is not. So hopefully I'll get my butt back in gear and make it to October injury-free. If the half-marathon doesn't happen? I'm totally ok with that, just thankful for two working legs.

Poker: Still play every monday; think my skill is improving. 4th and 2nd the past few weeks. Trying to figure out how I would make it to the WPT tournaments you see on tv. But apparently I need a little more practice (and money) for those.

Church: I've been going to a new church! Grace Bible Church. It's wonderful and I love it. It's small and intimate and filled with Christ-centered people. The small group of young people at the church is amazing; they're uplifting and refreshing to be around in this city.

Work: Same job, same position. I still enjoy it alot and learn so much every day.

Mica: She's alive. Eating, sleeping and picking fights with my roommates cat, but mainly eating and sleeping, per usual.

House: Since I last moved at the end of April, I haven't moved since! (Shocking, I know) I like it here. My room is so cozy and I even have my own reading room, complete with my papasan chair. There may or may not have been a dead mouse in the basement for a few weeks when I moved in, but it's a pretty great step up from the yuckiness I previously lived in.

Camera Cord: STILL freaking lost. And to make it even worse, I've actully been trying really hard toreconcile this situation. Over the past two weeks I've ordered two camera cords. First one: wrong size. Second one: right size, faulty connection; didn't work. But I'm hopeful for the third one, the odds are in my favor, right?

Hmmmm what else...

Veganism: Day 71. Still going strong. I've officially made it two months. Everyone keeps asking me (and honestly I keep asking myself) is this a permanent thing? And to tell you the truth, I don't know. And I'm ok with that. So you should be too :)

Mackenzie: My niece; wonderful and happy and smart and beautiful. Girl has got some chunky legs that I just can't get enough of. (Sidenote: Kelly (sister) is still pregnant and feeling/looking great! She's due the end of November and I can not WAIT for a little boy)

I think that's it. If I left anything out that you're dying to know, please comment.

Unaffected Loveliness

"Which are the people who have influenced us most? Not the ones who thought they did, but those who had not the remotest notion that they were influencing us...We always know when Jesus is at work because He produces in the commonplace something that is inspiring."

How did this happen

I don't know, but somehow I got talked into joining Twitter sometime this past weekend. Actually, I think it's safe to put all the blame on Allison Matthews for my recently accrued twitter account. It was that I either started one myself, or live in fear that she'd start one for me; no telling what would get on that page!

Kidding, kidding. I joined out of my own curiosity; I wanna know what all the hype is about! So I did it, I jumped on the bandwagon. I ALWAYS do this. I put off giving in to popular trends for such a long time, I put up my best fight, then I always lose. I always give in.

The thing with Twitter is that I don't know if I want people to know what I'm doing all the time. And frankly, I don't think I care to know what other people are doing all the time. Is that bad? I mean, having a blog is fun, but there's always that risk that people will keep up with you by your blog rather than by picking up the phone to call. Twitter just seems like the epitome of that. Why would you want to call me when you already know what I'm doing every second of every day?

Maybe that's a little extreme. I will stop judging Twitter and it's Tweeters (?? that doesn't seem right...) now until I actually try it. I think I might like the cute little Twitter buttons more than Twitter itself...is that so bad?

Seriously...

Where the heck is that dang camera cord?!?

I've looked everywhere for it and of course it's a Nikon-specific cord instead of the normal universal cord that every other camera in america uses! But the blog can't take one more day without it...I shall buy a new one :(

Pennsylvania Won

I put up a good, 10-month fight, but unfortunately I lost. And this happened...

(Insert my face and info above)

Don't see it? Look closely...

Maybe it's just me, but my face just doesn't look as cute and the car just doesn't look as good surrounded by all that Pennsylvania. BUT I have surrendered and I will love and be thankful for where I am.

Felicity

Rewind 2 years (oh man, maybe 3 now) back to the days when I lived with Lauren then Grosse, now Kimmel

I remember this period of time when we searched website after website, blockbuster after blockbuster; we called friend after friend and extended every life line in search of this amazingly awesome and addictive t.v. series, Felicity

Only four seasons, a mere 84 episodes, yet so incredibly difficult to find and so expensive to purchase. So we watched the few episodes of Season 1, I think it was, that we had and suffered through the withdraw when we came to the end of the shows within our reach. It wasn't pretty, but we eventually got over it and moved on to new show addictions (The Hills may or may not have played an important role in this.)

Fast forward some years to now, well two weeks ago. For some reason the hankering to watch Felicity came back again. Oh how I dreaded the return of this craving, knowing there's no way I can find the episodes without spending a fortune.

That is, however, until my amazing roommate, Justyn, came to the rescue and got me all 4 seasons. Yep, ALL 84 EPISODES, all mine; well, ours, except he's not as in to Felicity as I am :) He's awesome; and even lets me have the whole living room to myself for my Felicity Marathons. Big tv, surround sound and Keri Russell circa 1998. Heaven.

The only problem, if you noticed, is that little word, marathon. Since having this old classic at my finger tips since friday, I am almost done Season 2. Which means almost half way done. Which means 24 45-minute episodes in four days. Granted I skipped some of Season 1 because I had already seen them, BUT STILL, I'm guessing at least 18 episodes in four days. It's just SO GOOD!

Don't worry, though, I'm going to control my Felicity-watching as of today. Not, of course, because I'm afraid of the possibilities of becoming a hermit or anything, only because I want to draw out the amazing-ness of this show for as long as possible (duuuhh).
