Behind the Blog

Kara (me) and Chubbs, October 2010
Bios are not so much my strong suit. I don't like talking about myself. I can talk about anything else until I'm blue in the face, but myself? Not so much.

The first thing that came to my mind, though, when thinking about myself are nicknames. Boy I have a lot of them. Mainly from my family. My family is weird. Great! But weird. What's funny is that I notice myself passing on the nickname curse to my dog. I will call him every rendition of Chubbs except 'Chubbs'. I often wonder what someone would think if they bugged my house. Probably that I'm crazy. But that's ok. I'm all right with that :)

I will spare you the long list of nicknames dating back to when I was five as well as the list of nicknames I've started for Chubbs and jump into an attempt at talking about myself.

My kitty, Mica.
Don't be fooled by the picture; she's about 25lbs.
I'm in my mid-twenties and am no stranger to moving around quite often. From Oklahoma to Pennsylvania to Virginia and then Texas, back to Pennsylvania and most recently to just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. (did I confuse you yet?) This is the main reason I started to blog in 2009. When we all started moving after graduation, my college roommate and I made New Years resolutions to start consistently blogging so we could easily keep up with each others' lives.

I never thought anyone would actually read it or that I would enjoy it as much as I do. My journalism background has found its perfect outlet. I use this blog to write about day-to-day life because it makes me stop to enjoy the little things.

Me and Pete
(often referred to as The Boy)
You'll often find me in the kitchen baking or visiting my nieces and nephews every chance I get. Love family. I've always loved to run, but prefer to bike these days (as I'm getting older, I notice my joints and bones are not as strong as they once were!) I love country music and wearing my cowboy boots like I was born and raised in Texas.

College football is my favorite season (er, maybe the season is fall...) and a good wine is the perfect end to any day.

I'm sure there's a bunch of things I'm leaving out, so feel free to read and enjoy life with me.

Because, after all, life is good.
